Oceanic Seafoods & Buena Proa – a winning partnership
Oceanic Seafoods is proud to be working in partnership with Argentinian company Buena Proa SA. Buena Proa are vessel owners supplying the local seafood industry with raw product for processing. All Oceanic’s raw material purchasing is controlled from Buena Proa’s office located in Mar Del Plata. They are a well established company and have been involved in the fishing industry for over 20 years. Owner Mariano Retrivi is the CEO of the Argentine Coastal Ship-owner Association. He is very proud to be directly involved in promoting and leading the development of coastal fishing in Argentina.

Our combined vision is to bring our Chinese customer base closer to the raw material market in Argentina. Buena Proa’s local expertise, knowledge and experience allows Oceanic to confidently offer seafood to the China domestic market, knowing that price quality and forward contracts can all be achieved. By combining Oceanic Seafoods established sales in China with raw material buying from Argentina through Buena Proa, our partnership gives us a competitive edge over other suppliers.
Oceanic Seafoods wild red shrimp
Our main specie for export from Argentina is Wild Red shrimp. Raw material from Buena Proa vessels and other artisan catching vessels is landed into, audited and approved by land factories located in Mar del Plata, Rawson, Trelew, Puerto Madryn and Comodoro Rivadiva. We also offer wild caught, sea frozen whole Red Shrimp and a variety of fish species from the same catch area.
Serving the Asian market from our base in China
The primary focus of our China based business is the sale of frozen seafood and meat products into Asian markets. Our main sales area is China but we also trade with customers in Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Vietnam and Thailand. Through our head office in the UK we source products internationally enabling us to deliver what our Asian customers want, at the best price and exactly as per specification. Our raw material supply partners are located are the UK, Iceland, Greenland, Norway, North and South America, Canada and New Zealand.

As a group we have a cumulative experience in the supply of frozen foods and the food industry of over 50 years. This means our customers have total confidence in our product development, logistics expertise, technical & quality assurance and traceability.
Our traders are fluent in English, Spanish, French, Chinese, Japanese and Russian giving us greater control over purchasing contracts, price, specification and availability. We always purchase direct from the catching vessel or manufacturing site.
Logistics
We are experts in logistics and have a full time division dedicated to this service. Most of our product is purchased on FOB terms giving Oceanic total control of loading, shipment dates, choice of shipping lines, temperature settings, weight limits, transit times and demurrage free time at the destination port.
Our logistics team are trained by specialist consultants in Incoterms and Documentary Credits (UCP 600). We understand our clients requirements and pride ourselves on preparing accurate export documents for custom clearance at the destination port.
